About a month ago, ‘New City Spaces’ was launched (not to be confused with its 2003 namesake). The compact book features 17 new public spaces across central Auckland completed over the last three years or so. A great range of projects is included and, more generally, it’s fantastic for Auckland that there is so much new and improved city to allow the book to even be put together.

Amongst the projects featured are North Wharf, Jellicoe St and Silo Park. It’s interesting to have these presented alongside adjoining and other waterfront projects; approaches and details can be compared while a sense of the overall, emergent language of the harbour’s edge can be gleaned.

Check it out.
