ALBANY ROSE GARDENS

2018 Update:

The Rose Gardens are complete! The new street and public realm are open and functioning well, and it’s fantastic to see people discovering and enjoying the place. The boardwalk has provided a great new east-west link in the Albany basin, and the overall public realm has introduced a fine-grain, local scale that has largely been missing from Albany. Future adjacent developments will hopefully continue to promote this scale to allow a diverse neighbourhood to evolve, suited to shoppers, students, residents and recreational users, as well as different transport modes. – NJ

The Albany Rose Gardens project is well underway on site. Along with 250 new apartments, the mixed use development will provide a new local street, new neighbourhood connections, an enhanced lakes reserve and a shared podium garden for residents.

The development is shaping up really well and it’s great to be implementing a new street with sophisticated urban and water sensitive design principles integrated. The project sets an important precedent for the Albany basin (zoned a Metropolitan centre in the unitary plan) and will help steer the place and context’s positive evolution. – DB
